The Port of Tarragona handles 2.6 million tons with a growth of 2.6% in February

In the cumulative figure (January-February) growth was 4.3% with 5.8 million tons
The Port of Tarragona handled 2.6 million tons of cargo in February, compared to 2.5 million tons in the same month last year, a growth of 2.6%. This growth was mainly due to an increase in energy products to 1.9 million tons (34.1%), highlighting in particular crude oil at 688,211 tons (75.7%); petroleum energy gases (butane and propane) at 145,336 tons (29.6%); and coal at 470,745 tons (41.9%).
Fertilisers also performed well with 35,665 tons handled (37.6%), as well as building materials with 53,803 tons (4.7%) during the second month of the year. Fruit, vegetables and pulses also increased to 16,179 tons (up 99.0%)
The cumulative January-February figure records a growth of 4.3%
In January-February, the Port of Tarragona handled a total of 5.8 million tons, a growth of 4.3%.
Agri-food products continued to perform well with more than 1.1 million tons handled in the first two months of the year (16.8%), specifically animal feed and forage continued their rate of growth with 382,695 tons handled (77.9%), as did fruit, vegetables and pulses with a total of 23,790 tons (46.5%). On the other hand, cereals and their flours fell slightly by 0.9% to 760,003 tons in January and February.
Of particular note in energy products, with a total of 3.8 million tons handled (8.8%), we can highlight benzine at 214,560 tons (1,804.8%); petroleum energy gases (butane and propane) at 306,684 (67.1%); biofuels at 26,214 tons (22.9%); gasoil at 171,503 tons (11.9%); and the crude oil at 1.6 tons (9.1%).
Fertilisers and building materials
Elsewhere, the first two months of the year saw 63,344 tons of fertilisers handled (27.6%); 26,800 tons of phosphates (197.8%) and 5,001 tons of potassium (20.2%). The figure for building materials was 167,789 tons (11.9%), highlighting cement at 23,103 tons (166.4%) and materials at 33,204 tons (258.5%).
