For the Port the meeting was a first contact enabling it to get to learn about the work of the Chamber and to assess possible collaborations in the future.
The chairman of the Brazil-Catalonia Chamber of Commerce (Cambra de Comerç Brasil-Catalunya - CCBC), Javier Mirallas, and its director, Francisco Arbós, met the chairman of the Port of Tarragona, Josep Andreu, yesterday to explain the work that this business association is performing and to assess possible collaborations between the two organisations in the future.
The main objective of this Chamber of Commerce is to promote and facilitate commercial relations between Brazil and Catalonia, acting as a meeting point between the Catalan companies present in Brazil and Brazilian companies that want to establish themselves in Catalonia directly or as a gateway to Europe. Since its creation it has sought to represent, promote and defend the general interests of its members, as well as increasing economic and trade flows between the two markets and creating a favourable environment for business and for cultural exchange.
Every year the Brazil-Catalonia Chamber of Commerce organises two business missions designed to provide its participants with an analysis of the prospects abroad that is accessible and efficient in terms of results.
Josep Andreu rated this meeting very positively, and has proposed meetings so that the different companies that operate in the Port can learn about the services offered by the CCBC.
The most common types of maritime traffic between Tarragona and Brazil are cereals and flours, paper and wood-pulp, and chemicals and petrochemicals.
