Exciting museographic thanks to advanced audiovisual and interactive media
Architecture and exhibition design
On Saturday, July 17, 2021, the Port of Tarragona inaugurated the new Port Museum, a renovated space with a modern and immersive museographic offer that, through advanced technological elements, allows us to know the past and present of the maritime world. The Port of Tarragona Museum preserves and disseminates the maritime and port heritage, making it available to the publicwho visits it.
The Museum is part of the Register of Museums of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Network of Museums of the regions of Tarragona and Terres de l'Ebre, the System of the Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia, the Sea of Museums and the Association of Maritime Museums of the Mediterranean.
It is an ideal building to exhibit the port heritage fund. Given the large volume of most of the pieces exhibited, the breadth of space offered by this old warehouse of goods, allows us to propose an integrative discourse with the objects.
The citizen and cultural use in which the Port has specialised the Costa Wharf guarantees the location of this space which, over time, has been recovering and safeguarding the maritime and port heritage of our coast.
We present a journey through the history of the port through time, since the Romans disembarked there until today. Life on the docks, types of fishing, sports activities, boats and goods linked to our sea are also represented.
