Last Friday, 10 May, ChemMed Tarragona, the Mediterranean chemical industry cluster, held its most recent assembly. The event was held in the facilities of the Tarragona Port Authority, a founding member of the cluster.
The president of ChemMed Tarragona, Josep Maria Cruset (Port of Tarragona), and its vice-president, Josep Francesc Font (AEQT), welcomed the attendees. Matters addressed during the assembly included the most important activities of 2018, such as ChemMed’s participation in the Argus Olefins and Aromatics European Seminar; the organisation of Petrochemical Day; and the participation in the Hub Day Workshop, among others. These activities are part of the cluster’s commitment to the international promotion strategy in the framework of a commercial action plan designed to attract sectorial events of recognised international prestige to Tarragona. Such international conferences are attended by the sector’s most important agents, who then have the opportunity to get to know the model of the most important petrochemical industry cluster in southern Europe, a cluster that is the fruit of a public-private cooperation between logistics and industry.
The ChemMed director-general, Genoveva Climent, explained the cluster’s action plan for 2019, including the following: the recent participation in ChemPlast Expo 2019 held in Madrid; the coming participation and official partnership in the networking conference at the Mediterranean Refining & Petrochemicals Summit to be organised by S&P Global Platts on 26, 27 and 28 June in Tarragona; the participation in October at the Argus Olefins and Aromatics European Seminar and EPCA held in Berlin; and the next edition of the Hub Day in November in Tarragona.
