The Ponent Outer Harbour Wall
The Ponent Outer Harbour Wall
The 2015-2035 Master Plan, as a continuation of the 2000-2014 Master Plan, envisages the Port’s medium-term growth in a south-westerly direction, in the area known as the shoreside esplanades.
In a first phase, the new "Ponent" breakwater will be built by extending the existing breakwater. The new breakwater will have a total length of approximately 1,600 m and will be crowned at a height of 7.2 m, which cannot be exceeded. Subsequently, a 400 m long dock will be built, with an esplanade of 40,000 m² that will continue to be extended in the following years until the completion of the dock with a total of 1,000 m of mooring line.
The Port plans for this point to be used for mooring cruise liners, while at the same time it will be given the capacity and versatility to handle general cargo.
In addition, an access road is proposed that will connect the port area with the breakwater and the adjoining docks to be built there.
The objective of this work is to allow the southern development of the port by protecting it from storms coming from the south, while creating environmental protection on La Pineda beach against possible episodes of marine pollution, allowing emergency measures to be taken, such as the closure of the mouth of the port with spill containment barriers.
In 2023, the environmental processing of the project will start, followed by the draughting of the construction project, the bidding process and the beginning of the work.
