New donation to the Port of Tarragona Museum

It is a jersey from the Yacht Club Sailing School uniform

The Port of Tarragona Museum has a new item in its collection. It is a jersey from the uniform of the Tarragona Yacht Club Sailing School. The school was established and run by Tomàs Forteza in the late 1950s, instilling enthusiasm for sailing among the youth of Tarragona. One of the school’s first students, Jaume Hernández, has donated this jersey. On it, we can see the Yacht Club pennant and the vessel Vent de Dalt, owned by the school’s director and used for the training sessions.

On Monday 9 April, a ceremony was held in which Jaume Hernández Hernández and the president of the Port, Josep Andreu, signed the official donation agreement. The piece will be on show in the museum from September as one of the main features of a small format exhibition that will be held every quarter with the activity “Sharing the sea with… the Sailing School”.​
