The Museum and Archive of the Port of Tarragona propose a joint educational activity with the aim of informing higher and lower secondary students the important task which will be carried out at the Archive and Museum to preserve and disseminate, both as documents and as objectives, the legacy of our past and the key to our present and future.
It also aims to immerse students in the scientific discipline of its history.
Pedagogic Activities
DE L'ARXIU AL MUSEU: un recorregut per la història. El barri del Serrallo. - (From the Archive to the Musuem: a journey through history. The district of El Serrallo.)
Activity with monitor. Duration: 90 minutes.
Through a portfolio designed specifically for the Museum and Archive of the Port, developed by Auriga Cultural Services, it tries to present the Port and maritime heritage of the city and the history of the Port of Tarragona as the backbone and booster of the local territory.
Approaching the methodology of historical research through the study of primary sources, present hypotheses and evaluate and interpret the documents to be able to gain valid objective conclusions, the basis of any scientific study, is what dossier aims to achieve through a research proposal that revolves around a specific theme: El Serrallo and fishing around the year 1930.

CONEIX L'ARXIU AMB EL CAPITÀ APODACA. - (LEARN ABOUT THE ARCHIVE WITH CAPTAIN APODACA)
Limited entrance. Duration: 60 minutes.
It is a theatrical tour, aimed at lower and higher secondary students, in which Captain Apodaca, a Port character, brings to life the history of the Port of Tarragona, while at the same time teaches how the Archive functions, how it obtains its collections and the climatic conditions for preservation of documentation. You will view some documents and the Deposits and Consultation Room on an entertaining tour which also includes the outside of the building and La Plaça de los Carros.

About the Archive
To promote and encourage research efforts since 2004 the Port of Tarragona Research Prize is called, which is worth 6,000 Euros.
