Operations and port services

The Port services are the provision activities needed to ensure the running of the Port, aimed at enabling the operations associated with maritime traffic to be carried out in conditions of safety, efficiency, regularity, continuity and non-discrimination. They are classified into:

Nautical Services

Piloting service

This is an advisory service for captains of vessels and floating equipment, provided on board these, to aid their entry into and exit from the Port and the nautical manoeuvres within this and the geographical limits of the area of pilot services, in conditions of safety and under the terms established in the Law concerning ports, in the regulatory rule of this service and in the schedule of particular specifications.

Port tug service

Its purpose is the nautical operation of helping a vessel to manoeuvre, called tugging, following the instructions provided by its captain, with the aid of another vessel or other vessels, called tugs, that provide the traction, or, where appropriate, the support or availability within the limits of the waters included in the Port service area.

Mooring and unmooring service

Its function is to pick up a vessel’s mooring lines, take them and attach them to the elements arranged on the docks or moorings for this purpose, following the instructions of the vessel's captain, in the mooring sector designated by the Port Authority, and in the order and layout convenient for facilitating docking unmooring and undocking operations. The unmooring service is understood as being the function whose aim is to detach the mooring lines of a vessel from the fixing elements to which it is moored, following the sequence and instructions provided by the captain and without affecting the conditions of the vessels moored next to it.

Passangers Services

Passenger embarkation and disembarkation service

This includes organising, controlling and, if necessary, managing the means required for passengers to access the passenger vessels from the cruise terminal or the dock and vice versa.

Passenger baggage loading and unloading service

This includes organising, controlling and, if necessary, managing the means required for receiving baggage on land, identifying it and transferring it on board the vessel, and placing it in the location or locations that are established, as well as for collecting the baggage on board the ship from the location or locations that are established, transferring in to land and delivering it to each of the passengers.

MARPOL Services

Service for receiving the waste generated by vessels / MARPOL

Envisages the reception of refuse and waste from Appendices I, IV, V or VI of the MARPOL Convention 73/78.

This service includes collecting the waste generated by vessels, transferring it to a treatment facility authorised by the competent authorities, and, where applicable, the previous storage, classification and treatment of these in the area authorised by the competent authorities.
