The Tarragona infrastructure had its best season last year

The Tarragona Cruise Port Costa Daurada brand will be on the State Ports Authority stand at the Seatrade Cruise Global 2018 to be held from 5 to 8 March in Fort Lauderdale (Florida). It will present its potential as a cruise ship destination to the most important international travel agents. This is the main international fair for the cruise industry and brings together buyers and suppliers for a week of networking, purchasing, innovation and education.

Tarragona Cruise Port Costa Daurada participates in this international event with the objective of presenting Tarragona and the Costa Daurada as an international tourism and cruise destination, as well as to consolidate the relations initiated with the new marketing strategy aimed at making the Port of Tarragona a benchmark cruise destination port.

Its maturity as a first-class holiday destination and its possibilities for opening up to the international market are the main arguments for the definitive entry of Tarragona and the Costa Daurada into the competitive world of cruise ship stopovers.

A record year for cruises

In 2017, the Port of Tarragona recorded its best cruise season to date, with figures that exceeded expectations and broke all records with 51,390 cruise ship passengers, an increase of 284% over 2016. In terms of the number of vessels, last year there were 37 cruise ship stopovers in Tarragona, compared to 22 the previous year. The estimate for 2018 is for an even bigger increase, with 55 cruise ships (+49%) and 80,000 passengers (+56%).
