THE PORT OF TARRAGONA AS A RAILWAY ADMINISTRATOR

CONNECTION POINTS

The Port of Tarragona’s General Interest Rail Network (GIRN), managed by the Tarragona Port Authority as a railway administrator, has two physical connection points with the GIRN administered by the Railway Infrastructure Administrator (Administrador d'Infraestructures Ferroviàries - ADIF):

Connection 1: in the middle of the 56/62 escape, coinciding with Line 210’s PK 274/468 from Miraflores to Tarragona

Connection 2: 18.544 metres before the SP signal, next to the Port.

SPHERE OF ACTION

The functional connection points that delimit the scope of activity of Adif’s Tarragona S¡gnalman and the Port’s Signalman are found at:

Connection 1: Signal 2745.

Connection 2: SP Signal.

Via the indicated access points rail transport will be provided to the Port area’s various terminals, both those located in the riverside area and those existing in the docks attached to the Llevant Sea Wall.
Among the other elements of infrastructure the Port’s service area includes the road network with its accesses as well as the safety/security installations and signage.
The figures of the Signalman and Assistant Signalman are charged with handling the operations in the rail network inside the Port, both by means of a commercial agreement with Adif.

DOCUMENTS RELATED TO THE CONNECTION AGREEMENT

In October 2011, together with Adif and the State Ports, the Port Authority signed the Agreement for the connection of the Port of Tarragona’s railway infrastructures with the general interest railway network administered by Adif, with the Committee for monitoring the Agreement being constituted in February 2012. In addition, in compliance with the aforementioned Agreement, the Railway Sector Law and concordant legislation, the Tarragona Port Authority has drawn up, among others, the following documentation:
