The project, inaugurated in June 2018, received a special mention from the Infrastructure Advisory Council of Catalonia

The Port of Tarragona footbridge was recognised with a special mention at the Third Catalan Infrastructure Night. In this event, the Infrastructure Advisory Council of Catalonia recognised the country’s best infrastructure projects of 2018.

The footbridge was opened in June 2018. It is a 300-metre-long pedestrian walkway that crosses over the railway lines in the area of Tarragona train station, connecting the urban centre to Miracle Beach, the Marina and the Port of Tarragona sports and leisure zone in just seven minutes.

The Port of Tarragona’s project was chosen by a panel of judges from the Infrastructure Advisory Council of Catalonia from among the different candidates presented to the 2018 Infrastructure Awards. The Advisory Council is a collegiate body whose objective is to analyse, evaluate, deliberate and propose initiatives and public policies in the field of infrastructure in Catalonia. The Council is an initiative of the Catalan Association of Engineering and Consultancy Companies (ASINCA), the Official Chamber of Building Contractors of Catalonia (CCOC), Fomento del Trabajo Nacional and the Infrastructure Foundation Circle.
