New Health Inspection building opens in the Port of Tarragona

The president of the Port of Tarragona, Josep Andreu, and Marc Salla, manager of SP Activa, opened the new Health Inspection building located on the Port’s Castilla Wharf. To be managed by SP Activa, it will provide workplace medical services to the Port of Tarragona Joint Health and Safety Group, which is in charge of workplace health and safety for all the associated companies of the port community.

Workplace health and safety involves a series of activities aimed at both individuals and groups of workers. Its objectives are to identify workplace health problems and evaluate preventive interventions.

The new building replaces the former facilities which had become obsolete and provides improved conditions for the medical team and service users.

The activities to be carried out in the new facilities include assessing workers’ health by means of medical examinations adapted to the specific risks of each job and keeping a record of the corresponding reports; assessment of the potential risks to workers’ health, paying special attention to certain risks; assessment of the notification, analysis and investigation of occupational diseases; health and vaccination promotion campaigns; and preparation and conservation of the corresponding documentation to be made available to the labour authorities.​
