The representatives of the Port and ChemMed meet with various logistics operators and present the projects that they are developing: ZAL, the "La Boella" intermodal terminal and the Port-Centre terminal, among others.

The Port of Tarragona valued very positively its participation in the European Petrochemicals Conference (EPCA) which was held in Berlin (Germany) this week. This is an event of international importance; the meeting point par excellence for the petrochemical sector in Europe and of which the Port of Tarragona is a member. 700 chemical companies and nearly 2,500 attendees from some fifty countries all over the world gathered in this meeting, which this year focused on "The chemical industry and the 4th industrial revolution: people, planet, profit in the digital age".

Continuing with its strategy to gain international projection, the chairman of the Port of Tarragona and vice-chairman of ChemMed, Josep Andreu, and the Port’s Director of Sales and Business Development and ChemMed board member, Genoveva Climent, headed the representation of the petrochemical cluster and the Port of Tarragona in Berlin and held meetings with various logistics operators and, above all, industrial ones. The representatives of the Port presented the projects that are being developed, such as the ZAL, the electrified rail terminal (“La Boella” intermodal terminal) and the Port-Centre terminal, as well as the ChemMed cluster and the possibilities of Tarragona receiving new investments in the petrochemical sector. For their part, the various companies received the information very positively, a fact that reflects that Tarragona is a region that is active and in continuous growth, with a Port with a future and with a great many investment possibilities.

The Port of Tarragona is demonstrating a clear commitment to intermodality in order to optimise the logistics chain and be able to offer a better service to its clients, both from the economic point of view and in terms of sustainability. For this reason it has Iberian gauge rail access throughout the Port area, and over 10 km of mixed gauge (UIC + Iberian) track, providing service to all the operating docks. From East to West, there are three branch lines that connect the Port’s internal network to the ADIF network. One of these, connected to the Valencia line, runs through the Hydrocarbons dock and on to the Moll d’ Andalusia, Cantabria and Galicia docks. Specifically, the "La Boella" intermodal terminal is situated on the Moll de Galicia dock, adjacent to the container terminal. This branch also provides service to the areas of the Port where most of the facilities for general cargo are located, such as the vehicles terminal, a multipurpose terminal and the future Logistics Activities Zone (Zona d'Activitats Logístiques - ZAL).
