Som-Inn Port recognised with an award from the Tarragona Smart Mediterranean Region Foundation

The Tarragona Smart Mediterranean Region Foundation has awarded a Special Mention in the internationalisation and innovation category to Som-Inn Port, the new Port of Tarragona innovation ecosystem. It recognises the boost given by professionals in the public sector, such as the Port, to their zone of influence and their contribution to making this area of the Mediterranean a future leader in improving the lives of people. The award was announced during the Tarragona Smart Forum under the title of ‘Recognise the Momentum, Take on the Future’.

Som-Inn Port is a new innovation ecosystem and cooperation area for the port community. It has been set up by the Tarragona Port Authority in collaboration with local institutions, stakeholders and others who are working to introduce innovative techniques into the Port of Tarragona’s processes, services and business models. Som-Inn Port already has 30 member entities of various types: port companies and organisations with the role of service suppliers and clients, technological centres, universities and educational institutions, bodies that promote innovation, and 47 innovation agents.

The objective is to innovate in the services offered by the Port to its customers, bringing to fruition ideas and projects in which all the bodies linked to the Port Authority participate; to cooperate in generating and making tangible a large number of ideas and innovative projects in the common interest and to foster the collective intelligence and a culture of innovation; and finally, to promote internationally the innovative abilities of the Port of Tarragona and the members its innovation ecosystem.

The talent of the Port of Tarragona professionals and of all members of the innovation ecosystem will also be fostered and participation in European innovation projects will be promoted from Som-Inn Port, generating unique innovation experience in the port ambit.

Som-Inn Port fosters open innovation with five axes of cooperation: competitive vigilance; co-innovation through design thinking; the agile development of prototypes; training in corporate innovation; and networking.
