The Port of Tarragona is organising 'Workshop Hub Day 2017' to promote their facilities as a regional hub for bulk liquid products

2017

The 'Workshop Hub Day 2017' will be held on the 23rd and 24th of November and has been organised with the collaboration of the Port’s liquid storage terminals (chemical and petrochemical) and the ChemMed cluster

In conjunction with its liquid storage terminals (chemical and petrochemical) and the ChemMed cluster, The Port of Tarragona is organising a work day entitled 'Workshop Hub Day 2017' as part of the strategy for promoting the Port as a regional hub for bulk liquids. The goal of the workshop, which will take place on the 23rd and 24th of November at the Authority Port of Tarragona and Teatret del Serrallo, is to hold a meeting with the different players in the sector to look for areas for improving and promoting the Mediterranean as a logistics platform in southern Europe and as an alternative gateway to the ARA zone (the ports of Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Antwerp).

This is in order to respond to the current market trend. The Port of Tarragona has observed that the flows from the Middle East enter Europe through the ports of the ARA zone. In recent years, the major international hubs have grown exponentially and the centralisation of the goods traffic in Northern Europe is harming the Mediterranean region.

The workshop should serve to bring together the views, opinions and needs of the different players in the market in order to improve the positioning, infrastructure and services of the Port of Tarragona with the aim of improving competitiveness compared with the ports of Northern Europe. The idea is to detect what the strengths and weaknesses of the Tarragona facilities are in order to promote them as a sustainable option for customers in a rationalised market.

Experts in the sector, such as the consultants Argus, will participate in this workshop to explain the existing flows and supply/demand provision to participants, as well as market trends. There will also be journalists from international magazines in the sector. The aim of the Port of Tarragona is to take advantage of this meeting to communicate to the market the potential of the Mediterranean Sea as a logistics platform for Southern Europe but also for North Africa.
