The Port of Tarragona has been selected as a Spanish port of reference in the field of safety in handling hazardous goods

This morning the chairman of the Port of Tarragona, Josep Andreu, accompanied by the director general, Ramón Ignacio García, welcomed a dozen senior officials from the Ukraine’s Ministry of Infrastructure to the headquarters of the Port Authority, accompanied by representatives of the State Ports and of the Ministry of Public Works. The aim of their visit to the Port facilities today has been to learn about the safety processes for managing hazardous goods in the Port of Tarragona.

This visit falls within the framework of what is known as the “Twinning project. Support for the improvement of safety in the multimodal transport of hazardous goods in the Ukraine". In his address, the chairman of the Port expressed his gratitude to the State Ports and to the Ministry of Public Works "for having considered the Port of Tarragona as a port in this project, and for giving us the opportunity to share our know-how." Josep Andreu wished to stress that "the linking of our activity with the traffic in chemicals and petrochemicals, coupled with the aim of being a pioneer port in terms of sustainability and safety issues, has led us to strive to become a port of reference in the handling of hazardous goods".
