The equality of women and men is a universally applied legal principle recognised in international human rights texts. It is based on the principle of equality and refers to the active and balanced participation of all people, regardless of their sex, in the different areas of public and private life.
Despite being formally recognised, there are still obstacles present in our society that prevent the full participation and integration of women in all areas. One of the most obvious results is that women and men do not access, participate in or benefit under conditions of true equality in the employment market.
The development of equality plans in all organisations and the processes for the integration of equal opportunities in the different areas of intervention is one of the strategies indicated in the equality legislation.
EIn this respect, the Tarragona Port Authority’s EQUALITY PLAN has been drawn up with a firm commitment to transversality and the integration of equality objectives in the management of its policies.
In 2019, the TPA Board of Directors approved the action protocol for the prevention and handling of situations of workplace harassment in any of its forms. It aims to establish a method that is applicable to the prevention and resolution of complaints relating to all forms of harassment and other forms of violence, with due guarantees and impartial procedures. The TPA Presidency assumes its responsibility with a view to eradicating an environment of conduct contrary to the dignity of persons and fostering the inviolable rights that are inherent, the free development of the personality, respect for the law and the rights of others.
The Tarragona Port Authority considers occupational risk prevention to be an essential factor for the organisation's success. Each department and person in the organisation is required to foster and be responsible for it as part of the function they perform.
This determination represents a formal commitment, an obligation that goes beyond respect and compliance with the current legislation, establishing as a fundamental objective the protection of people and their environment.
