The third edition of Agrifood closes with a great success in attendees and participation

The virtual trade fair and networking tools were the innovations this year

The 3rd International Agrifood Congress has ended with a major success in attendees and participation. The event was streamed live from a online platform in virtual conference format. More than 400 people registered to follow the different events organised by the Port of Tarragona on May 5 and 6 2021, twice as many as the last edition.

This third edition of Agrifood has consolidated the congress as an international meeting point for all the agents in the agrifood logistics chain who wish to keep up to date with current and future market trends.

In his closing speech on Thursday afternoon, the Port of Tarragona president, Josep M Cruset, cited Agrifood as an example of the expansion of the port’s mission. “It is some decades now since ports ceased to be simple port operators to become true logistics nodes and driving forces for their hinterlands, fostering improvements in the logistics chain in terms of business, efficiency, innovation, digitalisation and sustainability”.

The virtual trade fair and networking tools were the important innovations this year. Together with the dynamics of a traditional fair, including making new contacts and exchanging knowledge, they added a major capacity for analysis and projection to help the companies involved take important decisions.

Genoveva Climent, the Port of Tarragona marketing and business development manager, highlighted “the considerable interest aroused by Agrifood among all the agents in the agrifood logistics chain, as shown by the number of delegates who registered to attend, double that of the previous edition".
